A new website for 60 years

At Wellington IT, led by Glenn Burgess, our Web Developer, we have the skills to create a website that will elevate your Credit Union and the expertise to ensure that it is secure and compliant.

We recently worked with Newry Credit Union to build their new website (just in time for their 60th anniversary celebrations.)

We have documented the entire process as proof of how quick and easy building a website can be when you put in a little bit of time and planning and of course, leave the rest to us

Step 1 - Goal Identification

In the initial planning stages, we met with Newry Credit Union to determine what goals their new Credit Union website needs to fulfil.

For Newry Credit Union this included:

  • A refresh to celebrate 60 years of Newry Credit Union.
  • They wanted the site to be simple to navigate and to work as a member of their staff who is virtually available for members to access 24/7.
  • Modernising the site and, in turn, the look and feel of the Credit Union, in the hopes of attracting new members.
  • Encourage use among current members who may not be able to visit the branch physically during opening hours.
  • There was a focus on security as their new website would be the critical gateway to their online services.

Members can manage their finance and browse for the latest updates from Newry Credit Union.

Step 2 - Scope definition

Once we were aware of Newry Credit Union’s goals, Glenn began to define and scope out the project.

i.e., what web pages and features the site requires to fulfil the goal, and the timeline for building those out.

We presented Newry with our timeline and agreed with them on a delivery date for content for the site. There was a quick turnaround of 2 months required from sign-off end of May, with a hard deadline of end of July to mark their 60th Anniversary, a huge milestone for the Credit Union.

Your website is where your members want to get the most out of your Credit Union, and the story must come from you. We help you develop content for your website that reflects you, your local community and the interests of your members!

Our new website is incredibly easy to navigate, with lots of imagery and colour. Our members have commented on how much they love our new brand and website. The project deadline was a critical project requirement, knowing we could trust & rely on Wellington IT as long-term strategic partner to deliver on that promise made the project a stress-free experience for us.

Step 3 - Visual Elements

With the site architecture and some content in place, we can start working on the visual brand. Depending on the Credit Union, this may already be well-defined, but you might also be defining the visual style from the ground up.

In the case of Newry Credit Union, they had their logo and brand colours established. From there, we utilised the current brand identity and the implementation of a new brochure website framework to modernise the look and feel, while keeping the brand consistent.

Compare your current Credit Union website to other websites that you frequently visit and find appealing! Take note of what you like about them and update your own website if you feel it does not match up!

In this context, is important to know:

it takes 2.6 seconds for users to make the first impression of a website

94% of the first impressions are based on visual and design

88% of visitors won’t return to a website if they have a bad experience.

Step 4 - Testing

By now, you’ve got all your pages and defined how they display to the site visitor, so it’s time to make sure it all works.

Mobile navigation accounts for approximately 50% of web traffic worldwide since the beginning of 2017.  For community-based Credit Unions we typically see upwards of 70% mobile traffic.

It is clear, that mobile navigation has become as important as desktop, if not more so. All Wellington IT brochure websites are responsive and look great across a range of devices.

We ensure your website is mobile responsive; this will ensure that your website respects the standards set in recent years.

Step 4 - Testing Image

Step 5 - Launch

Once everything’s working beautifully, it’s time to plan and execute your site launch! This should include planning both launch timing and communication strategies — i.e., when will you launch and how will you let the world know? After that, it’s time to break out the bubbly.

Step 6 - Ongoing Maintenance, Security & Support. Image

Step 6 - Ongoing Maintenance, Security & Support.

With your new website live and your project completed, our work at Wellington IT has only just begun. We realise the importance of your brochure website as a vital 24/7 365 service for members (and prospective members), providing easy access to key information, loan repayment estimates, enquiry features and lead generation, and access to other areas as a critical financial services gateway. With that mind we work diligently to maintain your website’s ongoing operation, functionality and security, protecting your Credit Union and your website users. Many Digital Agencies can deliver a slick one-off website but fall over when it comes to security & supporting it.
